2013 has gone by so quickly I can't believe it. It's been fun to see many of my students transform. I learn so much from my students and get so inspired. Teaching is such a gift. I also had the opportunity to hit the road for a little bit and collaborate with some very talented people, getting some cool new music placements. I'm very grateful being able to do what I do for a living.
One thing I can't stress enough, "NETWORK"! Networking is the key in this business, building relationships, surrounding yourself with like-minded people. Instead of asking "What can you do for me?" ask "What can I do for you?" Truly care about others, be interested in their life and work, of course you might not "click" with everyone but you will for sure make new friends. It takes years and character to build trust. People like to work with people they like and trust. It's about helping eachother, being real and stepping out of our comfort zone. And also being a bit fearless...If there's something you truly want, go after it. Get out there and collaborate, make a cold call. Have fun! Explore and risk a little more than usual. Learn a new instrument, try out a new genre. Think BIG! Get inspired! If you haven't set any goals for 2014 yet, I recommend to put networking on top of your list! You've got a month to think about it. Lettep it up!
